Viridiana Ortiz is a 2015 graduate of the Master of Social Work Program and current clinical assistant professor in the Social Work Department. After completing the Advanced Standing MSW Program, Ortiz worked as a medical social worker in a hospital setting and then in a mental health coordinator role for the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo. Throughout these experiences, she maintained a strong interest in returning to school and completing her PhD so that she could focus on mental health-related research in minority communities. She began the PhD in Social Work program at Our Lady of the Lake University in 2020 and graduated in May 2023. Shortly after graduating, Ortiz returned to El Paso for an opportunity to teach at UTEP as an adjunct lecturer in Social Work. She is a licensed clinical social work supervisor in the State of Texas and Clinical Director and Founder at Mind Forward Health Center.
