Sadok El Ghoul is Professor of Economics and Finance at the Woody L. Hunt College of Business, University of Texas at El Paso, where he holds the Regent’s Distinguished Research Professorship and the Marcus Jonathan Hunt Distinguished Chair in International Business. He earned his MBA and PhD from Laval University. Before joining UTEP, he taught business administration at the University of Alberta and international financial management at Laval University. His research spans corporate finance, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, international finance, financial institutions, and culture in financial markets. His work appears in leading journals, including Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance, Management Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, The Accounting Review, and Contemporary Accounting Research. His awards include the Moskowitz Prize for Best Paper in Socially Responsible Investing (2011), the Best Paper Award at the World Business Ethics Forum (2016), the Best Paper Award in Emerging Economies Research at the Academy of International Business (2018), the Martha Cook Piper Research Prize (2017), and the Royal Society of Canada’s Yvan Allaire Medal (2025). He serves as Associate Editor at Journal of Banking & Finance, Subject Editor at Emerging Markets Review, and sits on the editorial boards of several academic journals.
