Dr. Smith received her doctoral degree in pharmacy from the UTEP-UT Austin Cooperative Pharmacy Program in 2009. After receiving her degree, she went on to practice in the community setting. After starting as a clinical coordinator in the Office of Experiential Education in 2019, Dr. Smith transitioned to faculty member in 2022. She is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso School of Pharmacy. In her role as a faculty member, her focus has been teaching in the first didactic year of the pharmacy curriculum focusing on skills in a community pharmacy setting such as patient counseling. Dr. Smith is the faculty advisor for the American Pharmacist Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists and is the P1 Interprofessional Education (IPE) champion. Her research interests include student success and professional identity.
