Dr. Alarid is Criminal Justice Professor and served as Department Chair from 2016-2022. She published 8 books and 60 scholarly articles/chapters in crime and correctional treatment. She authored the M.S., Criminology/Criminal Justice proposal that the Board of Regents approved in 2019. She is currently Lead Evaluator on a Bureau of Justice Assistance grant with a jail-based reentry program in El Paso.
