Professor Nigro received her PhD from the University of Illinois in 1974. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships and has authored or edited over 35 articles and 6 books. She has taught at the Universities of Ariziona, Kansas and Cincinnati, as well as at Arizona State University. She presently is Professor of Spanish and chair of the Department of Languages and Linguistics at UTEP.
