Dr. Sharifan’s research primarily focuses on understanding the environmental fate of contaminants. He has been involved in various environmental engineering and forensics projects that have implications for human health, quality of life and solving the mystery of crimes ranging from studying the biodegradation of UV filters to investigating the bioremediation of emerging contaminants. His current research is focused on alleviating the environmental risk of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) using nano-based sensors and nanoremediation.
