Dr. Erika Johnson joins UTEP as an Associate Professor of Instruction teaching Developmental English. Dr. Johnson is an El Paso native and a UTEP alum. She earned a BA in English & American Literature and Criminal Justice and an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies at UTEP. She earned her PhD in Rhetoric at Texas Woman’s University while also earning a Graduate Certificate in Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies. She has presented at numerous national conferences about visual rhetoric, feminist rhetoric, digital technology, pedagogy, and basic writing and co-authored “Turning Resistances into Engagement” in On Teacher Neutrality: Politics, Praxis, Performativity with Dr. Tawny LeBouef-Tullia and co-authored “Ethical Challenges of Digital Technology and Religion” in Troubles Online: Critical Approaches to Accessible Teaching and Learning with Dr. Elena Garcia to be published in 2024. Dr. Johnson enjoys reading, watching movies, and traveling.
