David Zubia is an Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He joined UTEP's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in 2001 after working at the University of New Mexico as a research engineer and research professor. He completed his doctoral studies in 2000 at UNM. His research has included efforts in the crystal growth and strain relief in nanopatterned substrates. His current research includes nanoscale aspects of electronic materials, solar cells and memristors. He has more than 20 archival journal papers and 26 conference papers and presentations. He received a Doctoral Fellowship from the Ford Foundation and holds two U.S. patents. He served as a guest editor for the Journal of Quantum Electronics and the Journal of Electronic Materials. He was Chair of the 3rd International CAST and Co-Chair of the 7th International TEXMEMS Conferences. He is a member of IEEE and Tau Beta Pi honor society.
