Dr. David Schauer is an Associate Professor of Economics and Finance. He received his B.S. degree in Economics from Jamestown College. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, he has completed the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking program. His professional positions include The University of Texas at El Paso from 1975 to the present; Director, Bureau of Business and Economic Research, 1988-1992; member of the Board of Directors, AccuBank, 1990-1992; Deputy Director, Institute for Policy and Economic Development (IPED), 2003-2006; member of the Board of Directors, Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande, 2007-2011; member of the El Paso City Plan Commission, 2012 to the present; and Senior Policy Fellow, IPED, 2007 to the present. Dr. Schauer's teaching areas are in Managerial Economics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interests include Economic Impact analysis and Regional Financial Sector research. Dr. Schauer's honors/awards include the College of Business Administration (COBA) Professor of the Year award in 1978; UTEP's Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching Excellence in 1986; induction into UTEP's Wall of Honor in 1988; the COBA's Excellence in Economics and Finance Instruction Award in 1988, 1990 and 1993; the COBA's nominee for the Chancellor's Council Outstanding Teaching Award in 2005; and UTEP's award for Outstanding Performance in Sponsored Projects, COBA, 2006-2007. Over his 36 year plus career, he has authored over 150 articles, professional papers and technical reports.
