Misra is currently Professor, Department of Metallurgical, Materials and Biomedical Engineering, University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Prior to joining UTEP, he was Board of Regents of Louisiana Stuller Endowed Chair, and Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, USA since 2001. He was the Founding Director of an interdisciplinary University of Louisiana Institute for Structural and Functional Materials that formed a bridge of knowledge from the basic sciences to the engineering disciplines. Prior to joining the academia, Professor Misra was a scientist at the Defense Metallurgical Research Laboratory, India. The 40 years of research and development, and teaching experience in materials science and engineering has led to several US patents and authorship of over several hundred research articles and book chapters that deal with, advanced structural alloys, polymeric materials for advanced drug delivery systems, medical biocompatibility and design, tissue engineering, and 3D printing of mesh structures for implants. Selected recognitions include Composite Award of the Institute of Materials, London and Charles Hatchett Award. Professor Misra is a Fellow of Institute of Materials, London and American Society for Materials International. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Materials Technology: Advanced Performance Materials published by Taylor and Francis.
