Dr. Amanda Loya, PharmD, BCPS is a faculty member and administrator with the UTEP School of Pharmacy. She currently serves as the Associate Dean of Community and Clinical Programs. Dr. Loya has practiced as a pharmacist in the El Paso community for over 20 years. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist with practice experience in both acute and primary care family medicine practice settings. As a faculty member in the School of Pharmacy, Dr. Loya teaches courses in health literacy, communication, and health across the lifespan in addition to contributing to the pharmacotherapy curriculum and to precepting pharmacy students in Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs). Furthermore, Dr. Loya has many years of experience in post-graduate pharmacy education, having developed an accredited Post-graduate Year 2 (PGY2). Her research experience has focused on understanding medication use patterns and improving medication adherence among patients of all ages through improving health and medication literacy; her scholarship has also addressed cultural diversity in healthcare.
