Dr. Angel Flores-Abad is currently an assistant professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering The University of Texas at El Paso and is a Researcher at the UTEP’s Aerospace Center known as cSETR. Dr. Flores-Abad background and research experience are in the area of autonomous systems for space and aerial applications. His current work is in the field of intelligent navigation of aerial systems in complex environments powered by artificial intelligence and in the development of small satellites with robotic capabilities to assist in on-orbit service, assembly and manufacturing in space. His research has been sponsored by the Department of Energy and NASA. He is a member of the AIAA Space Automation and Robotics Technical Committee, and has published papers in the main Aerospace Engineering Journals.
